Famed writer Gene Sculatti named-dropped the boys in an online column:
Now, a week ago I went to a gig here in L.A. Cyril Jordan's new band, Magic Christian, was playing. They were great: a rockin' four-piece hitting the vein of precisely the kind of r&r that would've sent Simon [Cowell] running for his Diane Warren publishing demos.
Ace reporter Lucky of SugarBuzz Magazine, fought the the crowds to see the boys play at the Cat Club in LA.
One of the many benefits of this wonderful magazine we have created is meeting and making new friends. And that is what happened during the week of Magic Christian's weeklong stay in Hollywood. Hailing from right in the heart of downtown San Francisco, Magic Christian has been causing quite a stir in the bay area and finally decided to grace the city of the angels with, yes, their magic.
Victoria Joyce reviewed the recent Plimsouls/Magic Christian show for SugarBuzz Magazine. Here's a snippet of what she thought:
Did I die and go to heaven?... I am thrilled and wait and listen to his new band do a killer version of the Beatles "Things We Said Today" and a few new great songs including, "The Real Thing," and finish up with a dedication to Peter Case, another cover of the Who's "I Can See for Miles."...
